TASK™ description
TASK™, The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge, is an online tool that provides higher education institutions with a standardized way to measure and monitor their students' level of sustainability knowledge. In practical terms, TASK™ is an online assessment with 112 multiple-choice questions covering a wide range of topics in the field of sustainability knowledge.
By offering TASK™ to their students at the beginning of the course, educators can gain a better understanding of their level of understanding of basic concepts and, as a result, adapt their teaching approach and deliver classes in a more appropriate manner. As a comparative assessment, TASK™ can also be used to compare curricula or as an entrance and exit test to obtain more insightful information. These detailed and aggregated results provide evidence for accreditation and rankings. TASK™ thus enables institutions to measure the impact of their educational offerings.
In addition to providing information to the organization based on an assessment, TASK™ certifies the score obtained by each participant. Having a certificate that can be added to their resume or LinkedIn profile allows students, regardless of their background, to demonstrate their level of knowledge about sustainability and show future employers that they have what it takes to make a positive impact.

Introducing TASK™ to students
Dear [students]
[School/University] is deeply committed to sustainability. We are proud to offer you TASK™ (The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge), allowing you to gain a certificate of sustainability knowledge and personalised learning insights!
[To be adapted according to your deployment plan] We will invite you to take this assessment twice:
- During your first semester, to establish a baseline.
- Before graduation, to measure what you learnt and give you an opportunity to improve your score to showcase it on your CV and LinkedIn profile.
TASK™ questions cover a wide range of topics, from environmental issues (e.g. climate change, ) to social issues (e.g. inequalities), to how we can make a difference through governance, economics, technology, and so on.
It's likely, and quite normal, that you won't be able to answer all these questions correctly - that's not a problem! As students, you'll be learning over the coming months and years, not only in the classroom, but also through internships, student projects and so on.
[To be adapted according to your deployment plan] In preparation, we invite you to browse the Intro2TASK - a compilation of videos and interactive resources to help you learn about sustainability.
We trust you to answer to TASK™ with honesty and integrity. The assessment integrity policy require you to stay on the TASK™ page, and prohibit collaboration and use of browser extensions, external devices, and other resources. Certificates will be automatically cancelled in case of infringement.
